OUR BEAUTIFUL DOUBLE DECKER BUS WAS BUILT IN 1962. 1821 IS A LEYLAND TITAN PD3/5 SHE WAS DELIVERED TO RIBBLE MOTOR GROUP IN APRIL 1963 AND STARTED LIFE WORKING OUT OF PRESTON BUS STATION. “BABE” AS WE CALL HER IS OVER 9M IN LENGTH 2.6M WIDE AND A HEIGHT OF 4.6 METRES.

“Babe” WORKED THE ROUTES IN AND AROUND PRESTON from 1963 UNTIL 1973, IN JUNE 73 SHE MOVED ON TO BLACKBURN & THEN BY AUGUST 1974 TO BLACKPOOL SHE WORKED THE BLACKPOOL ROUTES FOR 2 YEARS AND THEN ENDED HER TIME AFTER 18 YEARS OF SERVICE AT MORCaMBE FROM 1976 TO 1981.

“1821 WAS AT MORECAMBE DEPOT WHEN I STARTED AS A CONDUCTOR IN OCTOBER 1979 - SHE WAS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE ON THE 28TH SEPTEMBER WHEN ALL SERVICES WENT OMO. I USED TO LOVE WORKING THE TANKS, BOTH AS A CONDUCTOR AND DRIVER, REALLY STABLE AND RELATIVELY GOOD HEADROOM, AND APART FROM THE HEAVY STEERING A LOVELY BUS TO DRIVE..”
